Twins place Jake Odorizzi on 10-day injured list

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Jake Odorizzi on the 10-day Injured List with a right middle finger blister (retroactive to September 17).

The 30-year-old made his fourth start of the season on Wednesday and first since August 21. Odorizzi went 0-1 with a 6.59 ERA (13.2 IP, 10 ER), three walks and 12 strikeouts.

To replace Odorizzi on the 28-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen from the Taxi Squad. Poppen, who was optioned on September 5, was recalled as the 29th man on September 8 for a doubleheader against St. Louis. He has appeared in six games (all in relief) this season, posting a 4.70 ERA (7.2 IP, 4 ER), four walks and 10 strikeouts.
