KANSAS CITY, MO – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Sonny Gray on the 15-day Injured List with a right hamstring strain and reinstated right-handed pitcher Trevor Megill from the COVID Injured List.

Gray, who exited his start yesterday afternoon in Cleveland after 2.0 innings pitched, has made 24 starts for the Twins this season, going 8-5 with a 3.08 ERA (119.2 IP, 41 ER), 36 walks, 117 strikeouts a .224 opponent batting average and a 1.13 WHIP.

To replace Gray on the 28-man roster, the Twins have reinstated Megill from the COVID IL. The right-hander, who was placed on the COVID IL on Saturday, has gone 4-3 with a 3.89 ERA (41.2 IP, 18 ER), 14 walks and 45 strikeouts in 35 relief appearances this season.

Additionally, the Twins have outrighted right-handed pitcher Dereck Rodríguez off the 40-man roster. Rodríguez was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday after making one relief appearance for the Twins.
