MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated infielder/outfielder Luis Arraez from the COVID Injured List.

Arraez has missed the Twins’ last five games since going on the Injured List on May 6. He has played in 23 games for the Twins this season, hitting .301 (22-for-73) with two doubles, one home run, seven RBI, nine walks, seven runs scored, a .378 on-base percentage and a .748 OPS.

To make room for Arraez on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned catcher José Godoy to Triple-A St. Paul. Godoy, 27, has had two stints with the Twins this season, April 23-May 1 and May 8-12, appearing in two games.

Additionally, right-handed pitcher Chris Paddack has been transferred to the 60-day Injured List. Paddack was placed on the 15-day IL on Tuesday with right elbow inflammation.

The Twins have appointed right-handed pitcher Cole Sands as the 27th man for the regularly-scheduled game today. This is Sands’ third stint with the Twins this season (also, April 30-May 2 and May 6-7), appearing in one game, his major league debut on May 1 at Tampa Bay (2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R/ER, 0 BB, 2 K).
