Twins reinstate Miguel Sanó from paternity list

Kenta Maeda placed on 10-day injured list

August 23rd, 2021

BOSTON – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated infielder Miguel Sanó from the paternity list. Sanó had returned to Minneapolis to be with his family after the birth of his daughter, Danea, last Thursday morning in Minneapolis.

Sanó has played in 98 games for the Twins this season, hitting .217 (73-for-337) with 18 doubles, 21 home runs, 53 RBI, 51 runs scored, 44 walks, a .308 on-base percentage and a .765 OPS.

To make room for Sanó on the 26-man roster, the Twins have placed right-handed pitcher Kenta Maeda on the 10-day injured list with right forearm tightness (retroactive to August 22). Maeda, who departed Saturday’s game against the New York Yankees in the fifth inning with the injury, has gone 6-5 with a 4.66 ERA (106.1 IP, 55 ER) with 32 walks, 113 strikeouts and a .258 (106-for-411) opponent batting average in 21 starts for the Twins this season. This marks his second trip to the Injured List this year, after missing 20 games with a right adductor strain prior to the All-Star Break.
