Washington Nationals reinstate Will Harris and Juan Soto

The Washington Nationals reinstated right-handed pitcher Will Harris and outfielder Juan Soto from the 10-day Injured List on Tuesday. Additionally, Washington optioned right-handed pitcher Kyle McGowin to Triple-A Rochester and designated Hernán Pérez for assignment on Tuesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements.

Harris, 36, returns to the active roster after missing the first 24 games with right hand inflammation. Harris went 0-1 with one save and a 3.06 ERA in 20 games with Washington in 2020. He struck out 21 batters while walking nine.

In 2019 as a member of the Houston Astros, Harris went 4-1 with four saves and a 1.50 ERA in 68 games. He struck out 62 batters, walked 14 and posted a .196 opponents’ batting average. His 1.50 ERA led American League relievers and ranked second among all Major League relievers.

Soto, 22, returns to the active roster after missing 11 games with a left shoulder strain. He was hitting .300 (15-for-50) with two doubles, two homers, eight RBI, one stolen base and 11 runs scored when he was placed on the Injured List.

McGowin, 29, posted a 4.91 ERA in seven games for the Nationals.

Pérez, 30, appeared in 10 games for the Nationals, hitting .053 (1-for-19) along the way.
