What’s new at Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta for 2023

Braves City Connect jerseys, new retail brand and store, in-stadium and on-air talent, and self-checkout markets headline what fans can expect this season

March 28th, 2023

ATLANTA (March 28, 2023) – Today, the defending National League East Champion Atlanta Braves released details on what’s new at Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta for the 2023 season. From City Connect jerseys to newly redesigned food and beverage locations, there is something new for every fan to enjoy.

CITY CONNECT UNIFORMS

The Atlanta Braves have unveiled their new Nike City Connect uniform, a modernized classic, celebrating the enduring character and legacy of the one and only Hank Aaron. Inspired by the iconic 1974 Braves uniform, the design pays tribute to the year that Aaron hit home run 715 to break Babe Ruth’s record and solidify his place among baseball royalty. Nods to Aaron throughout the jersey pay tribute to his legacy and impact on the Braves, Atlanta, Major League Baseball, and the country, and marry iconic moments from the Braves’ history to inspire our next generation of fans. The classic jersey is reimagined with “The A” emblazoned across the chest, synonymous with Atlanta’s nickname. It is a visual representation of Atlanta as the home of the Braves, the team’s rallying cry “For The A,” and a celebration of the culture that makes the city unique.

The Atlanta Braves will debut their new city Connect jerseys on field, Saturday, April 8 - the day Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s home run record in 1974. The team will wear the City Connect jerseys every Saturday home game for the remainder of the 2023 season.

THREADS BY BRAVES CLUBHOUSE STORE

This season, the Braves will open Threads by Braves Clubhouse Store, a new retail location and merchandise line located in The Battery Atlanta. Threads will celebrate casual and super fans who are looking for elevated, player-inspired merchandise that is influenced by popular fashion trends seen around the world. The building is expected to open in 2024.

MLB RULE CHANGES

  • Pitch Timer: The pitch timer will reduce downtime and increase action. It creates a better rhythm to games and helps avoid unnecessary delays that prevent fans – especially our young fans – from enjoying the final innings in the stands and while watching at home.
  • The timer will be set at 15 seconds when bases are empty and 20 seconds with runner(s) on base. Hitters will receive one timeout per plate appearance and the pitcher can step off the rubber twice.
  • Shift Restrictions: Shift restrictions will lead to more hits and emphasize athleticism. Games will again be decided by the defensive skills of our players. Some of the best athletes in the world will now show off the full extent of their abilities.
  • Infielders must be positioned on either side of 2B when the pitch is released. All four infielders must have both feet within the infield when the pitcher is on the rubber.
  • Bigger Bases: Bigger bases will increase safety and promote more action on the basepaths.
  • 1B, 2B and 3B increased from 15” square to 18” square. This will result in a decrease of 4.5” between first and second base as well as second and third base.
