September 6th, 2019

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox today announced that pitcher Michael Kopech, in partnership with Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC), will launch “Kopech’s Big Kut,” a charity sweepstakes supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana and CWSC. As part of the effort launched in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Kopech has pledged to grow out his hair through the end of the year to donate for natural-hair wigs for children who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment.

The sweepstakes begins today and runs through Monday, September 30. Prizes include autographed memorabilia and the chance to win the grand prize – a Michael Kopech VIP Experience. It includes two MVP Passes for SoxFest 2020, limo transportation to SoxFest, an overnight hotel stay, an opportunity to dine with Kopech at a mutually agreeable time as well as two Magellan Scout Lounge Seats at a White Sox game during the 2020 season (exclusions apply).

All fans who enter the sweepstakes will receive a gift, ranging from a “thank you” video from Kopech to commemorative T-Shirts to signed photos, baseballs, jerseys and canvas prints – all while supplies last.

The sweepstakes will take place at whitesox.com/kopech from 10 a.m. on Friday, September 6, through 5 p.m. on Monday, September 30. All fans who donate through this link, which includes the official sweepstakes rules, are automatically entered into the sweepstakes.

In addition to “Kopech’s Big Kut,” the White Sox will commemorate Childhood Cancer Awareness Month throughout September. In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the team will wear “gold” during a special league-wide “Childhood Cancer Awareness Day” on Saturday, September 7 vs. the Angels. The White Sox will honor children battling cancer and their families on Tuesday, September 10 with a visit to the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital as well as welcome a group of young patients to the game that evening against the Royals to participate in special pregame experiences.
