White Sox announce five roster moves
MINNEAPOLIS – Prior to tonight’s series opener at Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox made the following five roster moves:
- Selected contract from Class AAA Charlotte (1): INF Danny Mendick;
- Returned from rehabilitation assignment and reinstated from 15-day injured list: RHP John Brebbia;
- Optioned to Charlotte (2): RHP Nick Nastrini and INF Lenyn Sosa;
- Designated for assignment (1): INF Zach Remillard;
Mendick, 30, is hitting .317/.388/.817 (19-60) with six doubles, eight home runs, 20 RBI and 15 runs scored in 19 games with Charlotte this season. He leads the International League in slugging percentage and OPS (1.205) and ranks among the leaders in extra-base hits (T1st, 14), homers (T2nd), total bases (T3rd, 49) and RBI (4th).
Mendick, a non-roster invite to spring training, has homered in five straight games and has recorded at least one RBI in six straight contests and eight of his last nine. He is a career .242 (114-472) hitter with 11 homers, 49 RBI and 57 runs scored in 186 games over parts of five MLB seasons with the White Sox (2019-22) and New York-NL (2023).
Brebbia, 33, was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 8 (retroactive to April 6) with a right calf strain, and made one scoreless appearance on his rehab assignment with Charlotte. He has thrown 2.2 scoreless IP over four relief appearances this season, his first with the White Sox.
Nastrini, 24, went 0-2 with a 7.88 ERA (7 ER/8.0 IP) in two starts with the White Sox after his contract was selected from Charlotte on April 15.
Sosa, 24, is hitting .132 (5-38) with one RBI in 12 games with the Sox this season.
Remillard, 30, appeared in two games with the White Sox in 2024, going 1-5 with a run scored, before being optioned to Charlotte on April 15.
Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster remains at 40.
