CHICAGO – Following approval from city and state leadership and public health officials, the Chicago White Sox will increase capacity to 60 percent (approximately 24,300) at Guaranteed Rate Field beginning Monday, May 24 vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.
“We have been working toward this moment and have always looked forward to welcoming more fans back to Guaranteed Rate Field in a safe and responsible way,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox chief revenue and marketing officer. “We have seen great success providing a safe and enjoyable gameday experience for guests in April, and as we see more people get vaccinated, we are thrilled to bring more fans into the ballpark to experience White Sox baseball in person and cheer on our first-place team on the field.”
As the organization prepares to welcome more fans to Guaranteed Rate Field, the White Sox also will feature two vaccinated-only sections for four games this weekend. Beginning with Game 1 of the doubleheader against Kansas City on Friday, May 14 at 2:10 p.m., fans who purchase tickets in the designated vaccinated-only sections located in Sections 108-109 will present their vaccination cards or other proof that they have been fully vaccinated along with a photo ID upon entering the ballpark. Fans holding tickets in these sections will be seated without physical distancing. Tickets located in the vaccinated-only sections this weekend will be available for purchase at whitesox.com today, Thursday at 3 p.m. CT.
Tickets for games at Guaranteed Rate Field starting on May 24 through June 16 will be offered in seating pods with an open seat between pods within the same row. Season ticket holders will receive an e-mail with an update regarding their ticket plan in the coming days. Season ticket holders with questions should contact their White Sox sales representative or e-mail [email protected]. Fans with questions should e-mail [email protected].
Information about the sale of single-game tickets for the general public will be announced next week.
Beginning May 24, the White Sox will offer two vaccination sites for fans located at Guaranteed Rate Field. Every fan who receives a vaccination before a game will receive a $25 White Sox gift card for use inside the ballpark. The White Sox also will promote vaccinations to the public through scoreboard and public address announcements, in-game promotional reads by announcers, signs inside and outside the ballpark, the Dan Ryan message board and various social media platforms.
Health and safety measures will remain at Guaranteed Rate Field after May 24, including wearing a face mask properly throughout the ballpark property, cashless transactions, mobile ticketing and ordering, as well as a no-bag policy which speeds up fan entry into the ballpark. Enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols, including the use of Centers for Disease Control-recommended supplies, also will continue. More information about health and safety protocols is available at whitesox.com/safety.
