White Sox announce six roster moves

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight’s series opener at the Cubs, the Chicago White Sox made the following six roster moves:

  • Returned from Rehabilitation Assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and Reinstated from 10-Day Injured List (1): OF Luis Robert Jr.;
  • Placed on 10-Day Injured List (2): OF Tommy Pham with a left ankle sprain and OF Dominic Fletcher with a left shoulder strain (both retroactive to June 3);
  • Recalled from Charlotte (1): OF Zach DeLoach;
  • Contract Selected from Class AA Birmingham (1): OF Duke Ellis;
  • Designated for Assignment (1): INF Zach Remillard.

Robert Jr., 26, was placed on the injured list on April 6 with a right hip flexor strain suffered on April 5 at Kansas City. He is hitting .214/.241/.500 (6-28) with two doubles, two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in seven games this season.

Robert Jr. won his first American League Silver Slugger Award and was an AL All-Star in 2023 after establishing career highs with 38 homers, 80 RBI, 296 total bases and 75 extra-base hits over 145 games.

Pham, 36, was injured sliding into home plate in the eighth inning on Sunday at Milwaukee. He is batting .280/.331/.402 (37-132) with seven doubles, three homers, 12 RBI and 19 runs scored in 33 games this season since his contract was selected from Charlotte on April 26.

Fletcher, 26, suffered his injury on Sunday at Milwaukee making an home-run saving catch in the seventh inning. He is batting .173 (13-75) with four doubles and six RBI in 28 games this season, his first with the Sox.

DeLoach, 25, is batting .281/.370/.369 (45-160) with six doubles, two home runs, 21 RBI and 28 runs scored in 44 games with Charlotte in 2024, his first season in the organization. He also was with the White Sox from May 22-24, going 0-5 over his first three major-league games.

Ellis, 26, ranks second in MiLB this season with 34 stolen bases in 35 attempts and is hitting .258 (31-120) with one homer, 12 RBI and 24 runs scored in 39 games with Birmingham. He has recorded multiple steals in a game 11 times, including a season-high three on two occasions.

Ellis, 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, is a .242/.330/.335 (200-827) hitter with 142 runs scored and 117 stolen bases (132 attempts) in 237 games over four minor-league seasons after signing with the White Sox as a non-drafted free agent on June 19, 2020 out of the University of Texas.

Ellis, who bats and throws left-handed, will wear uniform No. 27. He has no major-league experience.

Remillard, 30, is hitting .242/.342/.333 (8-33) with one double, one triple, one RBI and three runs scored in 15 games over two stints with the White Sox this season.

Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
