White Sox announce two roster moves

CLEVELAND – Prior to tonight’s series finale at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Jimmy Lambert on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm strain and recalled right-hander Matt Foster from the Schaumburg training facility.

   Foster, 25, was added to the 40-man roster on November 20, 2019. He has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 63.

   Foster, 6-foot and 210 pounds, combined to go 4-1 with a 3.20 ERA (23 ER/64.2 IP), five saves and 74 strikeouts over 43 relief appearances between Class AA Birmingham and Class AAA Charlotte last season. The Opelika, Ala. native averaged 10.3 strikeouts per 9.0 IP and limited opponents to a .211 (49-232) average between the two stops.

   Foster went 6-8 with a 2.52 ERA (51 ER/182. IP), 218 strikeouts and a .207 (135-651) opponents average in 132 career relief appearances over four minor-league seasons (2016-19) in the White Sox system. He originally was selected by the Sox in the 20th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Alabama.

   Lambert, 25, has made two appearances this season, working 2.0 scoreless IP. He made his major-league debut on Saturday vs. Minnesota.
