White Sox claim Sammy Peralta off waivers from Seattle

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have claimed left-handed pitcher Sammy Peralta off waivers from the Seattle Mariners and optioned him to Class AAA Charlotte.

Peralta, 26, is 1-1 with a 9.24 ERA (13 ER/12.2 IP) and 12 strikeouts in 12 relief appearances with Class AAA Tacoma this season. He was claimed by the Mariners off waivers from the White Sox on April 2 and designated for assignment on May 23.

Peralta appeared in 16 games for the White Sox last season, going 2-0 with a 4.05 ERA (9 ER/20.0 IP) and 18 strikeouts. He made his major-league debut with the club on May 4, 2023 vs. Minnesota. Peralta was selected by the Sox in the 18th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tampa.

Following the claim, Chicago’s 40-man roster increases to 40.
