White Sox designated Juan Minaya for assignment and reinstante Dylan Covey from the injured list

OAKLAND, Calif. – Prior to today’s game at Oakland, the Chicago White Sox returned right-handed pitcher Dylan Covey from his injury rehab assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list, and designated right-hander Juan Minaya for assignment.

Covey, 27, will start this afternoon’s game at the Athletics. He has been on the injured list since June 9 (retroactive to June 6) with right shoulder inflammation. Covey is 1-4 with a 4.58 ERA (19 ER/37.1 IP) and a .238 opponents average (34-143) in nine games (seven starts) with Chicago this season.

Minaya, 28, is 0-0 with a 3.90 ERA (12 ER/27.2 IP) and 27 strikeouts over 22 relief appearances with the White Sox in 2019.

Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster decreases to 39.
