White Sox purchase contracts OF Jason Bilous and Bennett Sousa

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have purchased the contracts of right-handed pitcher Jason Bilous and left-hander Bennett Sousa from Class AAA Charlotte. Bilous, 24, combined to go 3-8 with a 5.76 ERA (51 ER/79.2 IP) and 106 strikeouts (11.97 per 9.0 IP) in 20 starts last season between Class A Winston-Salem and Class AA Birmingham. He is 9-22 with a 5.13 ERA (126 ER/221.0 IP) and 250 strikeouts in 65 career games (51 starts) over three seasons in the White Sox system. Bilous, a native of Newark, Del., originally was selected by Chicago in the 13th round of the 2018 draft out of Coastal Carolina University. Sousa, 26, went 4-3 with a 3.61 ERA (19 ER/47.1 IP), .209 (37-177) opponents average and 71 strikeouts (13.50 per 9.0 IP) in 41 combined relief outings between Birmingham and Charlotte. The Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. native has gone 9-9 with a 2.56 ERA (42 ER/147.1 IP), 187 strikeouts and a 1.10 WHIP in 104 career relief appearances over three minor-league seasons with the White Sox. Sousa originally was selected in the 11th round of the 2018 draft out of the University of Virginia. The White Sox 40-man roster increases to 35.
