White Sox reinstate Tim Anderson from injured list; place Yoán Moncada on injured list

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. Toronto, the Chicago White Sox returned shortstop Tim Anderson from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list and placed third baseman Yoán Moncada on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to June 18) with a strained right hamstring.

           Anderson, 28, was placed on the injured list on May 31 (retroactive to May 30) with a strained right groin suffered on May 29 vs. the Cubs. He appeared in four games with Charlotte on his rehab assignment, going 5-15 (.333) with one RBI.

           Anderson is batting .356/.393/.503 (58-163) with nine doubles, five home runs, 19 RBI, 24 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 40 games this season. At the time of his IL placement, he was tied for the American League lead with 20 multihit games and ranked third in average.

           Moncada, 26, suffered the injury on Friday at Houston. He is batting .179/.230/.292 (19-106) with three home runs and 12 RBI this season. In his last full game before the injury, Moncada went 5-6 with a double, home run and five RBI on June 15 at Detroit.
