White Sox select the contract of Declan Cronin from Triple-A Charlotte

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. the Cleveland Guardians, the Chicago White Sox selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Declan Cronin from Class AAA Charlotte.

Cronin, 25, is 1-0 with a 4.03 ERA (20 ER/44.2 IP), two saves, 36 strikeouts and just three home runs allowed over 41 relief appearances with Charlotte this season. He owns a 2.61 ERA (3 ER/10.1 IP) with eight strikeouts over 10 July games, including seven scoreless appearances. Cronin has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 59.

Cronin is 10-6 with a 3.86 ERA (76 ER/177.1 IP), four saves and 144 strikeouts in 145 career games (one start) over four seasons (2019, ’21-23) in the White Sox system. He pitched for Glendale in the Arizona Fall League following the 2022 season. Cronin originally was selected by Chicago in the 36th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.

Following the move, the White Sox active roster increases to 26 and 40-man roster to 38.
