Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers this afternoon announced that the club has activated outfielder Nomar Mazara from the 10-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Willie Calhoun to Triple-A Round Rock.

Mazara has been on the disabled list since July 17 with a right thumb sprain sustained during the club's series in Baltimore prior to the All-Star break. His last game with Texas was July 14 at Baltimore. He batted a combined .300 (6-20) with 2 RBI during a 6-game injury rehabilitation assignment with Round Rock and Frisco (AA), going 0-for-4 and playing the entire game in right field last night for the RoughRiders against Arkansas. Mazara batted .272 with 15 home runs and 58 RBI in 91 games for the Rangers prior to the first disabled list stint of his career, and he has a team-leading 78 starts in right field.

Calhoun has batted .275 with one home run and 9 RBI in 22 games for Texas since being promoted on July 20, the day Mazara was formally placed on the disabled list. He has spent the balance of the campaign at Round Rock.

After these transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the major league roster, along with 5 players on the 60-day disabled list.
