The Texas Rangers will be back at Globe Life Park in Arlington for a seven game homestand beginning Thursday, May 3.
The homestand opens with a four game series against the Boston Red Sox. On Thursday, May 3; Friday, May 4; and Saturday, May 5, contests will begin at 7:05 p.m. The series wraps up Sunday, May 6, with a 2:05 p.m. first pitch.
Thursday is the season's first installment of Texas Rangers FOX Sports Southwest University Days, with Texas Christian University taking center stage. Pro Football Hall of Fame running back and Horned Frog product LaDainian Tomlinson will be on hand to throw a ceremonial first pitch as part of the night's festivities.
Fans can purchase tickets for TCU UDays at texasrangers.com/udays and arrive early to receive a special edition, Rangers cap themed in TCU colors. The hats are distributed on a first come, first served basis.
Arlington Appreciation Night is also Thursday, as the Arlington City Council will be on hand for a pre-game presentation.
Friday's game will be followed by T-Mobile Friday Fireworks set to a High School Reunion 1988 theme.
On Saturday, the Rangers will welcome Hailey Dawson to Globe Life Park to throw out a first pitch. The 8-year-old was born with Poland Syndrome, causing her to be missing three fingers on her throwing hand. Dawson wears a 3D printed hand and is on a mission to throw out a first pitch at all 30 Major League ballparks.
A post-game concert by the Josh Abbott Band, presented by Budweiser, is on deck for Sunday. The nationally recognized Texas Country band, which began in Lubbock, TX, is known for their Top 10 debuts on the Billboard country albums chart with 2012's Small Town Family Dream, 2015's Front Row Seat, and their latest 2017 release "Until My Voice Goes Out".
Concert admission is included in the price of tickets for Sunday's game, and field passes for the show may be purchased for $12 by visiting texasrangers.com/concerts.
Sunday's events will also include Dino Day. The west side of the Globe Life Park concourse will become a prehistoric fun zone with help from the Dallas Zoo and the Dinosaur People. And fans with the special Theme Nights ticket to the contest have a chance to pick up a Dino DeShields plush. The Theme Night ticket required to be eligible for the plush may be purchased by visiting texasrangers.com/themenights.
It's also Blue Bell Ice Cream Sunday, when fans 13 and younger can enjoy $1 ice cream.
The Detroit Tigers arrive Monday to open a three game series with 7:05 p.m. matchups on Monday, May 7, and Tuesday, May 8, followed by a 1:05 p.m. series finale on Wednesday, May 9.
CBS 11 Weather Day returns on Wednesday, when CBS 11 meteorologists Scott Padgett, Jeff Jamison, Anne Elise Parks, and Jeff Ray will host a "Texas Weather Experts" class for local school children prior to the game.
The program will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. and feature interactive lessons, demonstrations, and experiments designed to teach students about everything from severe weather safety to the solar system.
Admission to Weather Day is open to anyone with the purchase of a ticket to the game. Home Plate and Centerfield Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. for the activities. Parking in Lot C and Lot 4 will be available beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Wednesday's contest is also Junior Fire Marshal day presented by The Hartford. Youngsters will receive Junior Fire Marshal Helmets at the gates and take a pledge to become Junior Fire Marshals during pre-game ceremonies.
The game will also include another installment of Texas Chili Company Dollar Hot Dog Day.
