The Boston Red Sox today recalled left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez from Triple-A Pawtucket. To make room on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher Noe Ramirez was optioned to Pawtucket following Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Rodriguez is expected to start tomorrow's game against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium beginning at 4:05 p.m.

Rodriguez, 23, is 1-3 with an 8.59 ERA (28 ER/29.1 IP) in six starts with Boston this season. The Venezuelan native has also made seven starts for the PawSox, going 0-4 with a 3.08 ERA (13 ER/38.0 IP). Acquired by the Red Sox from the Orioles on July 31, 2014, Rodriguez made his major league debut last season and went 10-6 with a 3.85 ERA (52 ER/121.2 IP) in 21 starts, earning Red Sox Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors from the Boston Baseball Writers' Association of America. In 108 minor league appearances (107 starts) between the Orioles and Red Sox organizations, the left-hander is 29-34 with a 3.22 ERA (205 ER/572.2 IP) and five complete games.
 
Ramirez, 26, has made 11 relief appearances over six stints with Boston this season, posting no record and a 6.55 ERA (8 ER/11.0 IP) with 11 strikeouts. The right-hander has also made 17 appearances with Pawtucket this year, earning three saves and going 1-3 with a 2.45 ERA (7 ER/25.2 IP) and 23 strikeouts compared to eight walks. A fourth-round selection by the Red Sox in the 2011 June Draft, Ramirez has a career 0-1 record with a 5.25 ERA (14 ER/24.0 IP) and 24 strikeouts in 28 major league relief outings, all with the Red Sox. Over five minor league seasons, the 2014 Eastern League mid-season All-Star has a 2.83 ERA (93 ER/295.2 IP) and 274 strikeouts alongside a 12-14 record in 141 games (17 starts).
