BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room, Boston optioned left-handed pitcher Tyler Samaniego to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
Coulombe, 36, was placed on the Injured List on May 4 (retroactive to May 2) with cervical spasms. He made two rehab appearances with Worcester (one) and Double-A Portland (one), tossing 1.2 innings. The left-hander has pitched in 12 games this season for Boston, allowing 5 ER over 8.0 innings with five strikeouts. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 25th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, the Missouri native owns a 3.41 ERA (123 ER/324.2 IP) in 355 career Major League games (two starts) with the Dodgers (2014-15), Athletics (2015-18), Minnesota Twins (2020-22, 2025), Baltimore Orioles (2023-24), Texas Rangers (2025), and Red Sox (2026).
Samaniego, 27, has posted a 1.04 ERA (2 ER/17.1 IP) with a 2.13 opponent average (13-for-61) and 13 strikeouts in 18 relief appearances this season, his Major League debut. The left-hander has also made four relief appearances with Triple-A Worcester, allowing four earned runs over 6.1 innings. Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 15th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Alabama native was acquired by the Red Sox in a trade in December 2025 and owns a 3.89 ERA (71 ER/164.1 IP) in 131 career minor league games (two starts).
