Red Sox set 2019 Opening Day roster

The Boston Red Sox today set their 2019 Opening Day 25-man roster by making the following moves:

-- Infielder Marco Hernández, who is recovering from left shoulder joint repair, was placed on the 10-day injured list.

-- First baseman/outfielder Steve Pearce was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain, retroactive to March 25.

-- Second baseman Dustin Pedroia was placed on the 10-day injured list with left knee inflammation.

President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.

The Red Sox open their 119th season today, March 28, against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Left-handed pitcher Chris Sale will make his fifth career Opening Day start, his second as a member of the Red Sox. He will be opposed by Mariners left-hander Marco Gonzales, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m. ET/4:10 p.m. PT.

The Red Sox 2019 Opening Day Roster is as follows:

PITCHERS (13): Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier, Colten Brewer, Nathan Eovaldi, Heath Hembree, Brian Johnson, Rick Porcello, David Price, Eduardo Rodriguez, Chris Sale, Tyler Thornburg, Hector Velázquez, Brandon Workman

CATCHERS (2): Blake Swihart, Christian Vázquez

INFIELDERS (6): Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers, Brock Holt, Mitch Moreland, Eduardo Núñez, Sam Travis

OUTFIELDERS (4): Andrew Benintendi, Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., J.D. Martinez
