Red Sox Sign Two Additional Players Selected in 2019 June Draft

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today signed two players selected in the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft: shortstop Matthew Lugo (2nd round) and first baseman Joe Davis (19th round).

In addition, the Red Sox signed right-handed pitcher Zach Schneider, a non-drafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic University.

Vice President of Amateur Scouting Mike Rikard made the announcement.

Lugo and Schneider will report to the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Red Sox. Davis will report to short-season Single-A Lowell.

In all, 16 of the 40 players selected by Boston in the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft have been signed to contracts, including each of the club’s top three picks and six of the top eight.
