CINCINNATI (May 13, 2023) – In partnership with Nike, the Cincinnati Reds today unveiled their City Connect uniform, which will be worn for the first time on Friday, May 19 when the Reds host the New York Yankees at Great American Ball Park.

The new modern design represents a vision of the future. Just as Cincinnati, the birthplace of professional baseball, sparked the passion of America’s pastime, the Reds City Connect uniforms were developed to ignite the fire and pride in a new generation. Together, fueled by a collective energy, this city and this team are lighting the way to what comes next.

“Honoring the past is always a predominant theme for the Reds, so it was refreshing to lean into Nike’s expertise of creating team gear that expresses what today’s athletes and fans want,” said Karen Forgus, Reds senior vice president of business operations. “The Reds embraced the opportunity to showcase how this city and this team are looking forward, determined to make history their own way, with their own vision.”

The uniforms feature black Nike jerseys and pants accented by bright red piping, jersey lettering and Stance socks. Also, a black New Era cap showcases the new stylized “C” logo.

“This uniform brings a totally different look to the forefront yet keeps the undercurrent of vivid red energy that drives Cincinnati and the Reds to continually evolve and innovate,” said Forgus.

Reds players will wear the Nike City Connect uniforms every Friday home game for the remainder of the 2023 season. 

Reds City Connect uniform highlights include:

• The city nickname (“CINCY”) is proudly displayed across the chest of the jersey. Because “CINCY” is more than just a nickname. It’s a vibe. A personality.
• The classic “C” logo receives a modernized look and appears on both the cap and sleeve. It has evolved into a more edgy and bold badge of honor - symbolizing the destiny of today’s Reds.
• “Juncta Juvant” is Cincinnati’s motto: Strength in Unity. Just as this team is stronger together, so are the people and communities who rep this great city. And the inclusion of the Buckeye leaf serves as a beacon, bringing together fans of Reds Country beyond just the 513.

The Reds Team Shop at Great American Ball Park is the exclusive retailer for the City Connect collection from May 13 through May 19. Official merchandise is also available at reds.com, the Nike App and Nike.com, NewEra.com and Stance.com.

The Reds and Fanatics will host a City Connect event on Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Findlay Market in downtown Cincinnati. Fans will be able to enjoy live music, food, drinks, activities for kids and special appearances by Reds legends.

The Reds are the fourth of six teams to debut the Nike City Connect uniforms during the 2023 season and the eighteenth club overall.

Nike and MLB created the program in 2021 to celebrate the bond between each club and its city. The uniform series explores the personality, values and customs that make each community and their fans unique.
