Rockies First Baseman TJ Rumfield Named National League Rookie of the Month for Second Consecutive Month

First Player in Franchise History to Earn Honor in Back-to-Back Months

DENVER — Colorado Rockies first baseman TJ Rumfield has been named the National League Rookie of the Month for June, as announced today by Major League Baseball. It is the second-straight Rookie of the Month honor for Rumfield, the first player to win National League Rookie of the Month in consecutive months since Atlanta’s Michael Harris II in August and September, 2022.
Rumfield, 26, appeared in 26 games for the Rockies in June, slashing .316/.400/.589 with 14 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple, five home runs and 17 RBI. He led all qualified National League rookies in average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, doubles (9), extra-base hits (15) and total bases (56). Also ranked among National League rookies in hits (30, T-1st), home runs (T-1st), walks (12, 2nd) and runs scored (14, T-3rd).
The Richmond, Va. native also had a career-best 13-game hitting streak from June 16-30. During the streak, Rumfield slashed .388/.464/.653 (19-for-49) with four doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI.
On the season, Rumfield ranks among all qualified National League rookies in batting average (.230, 1st), on-base percentage (.373, 1st), slugging percentage (.487, 1st), OPS (.860, 1st), hits (89, 1st), doubles (19, T-1st), total bases (148, 2nd), home runs (12, 2nd), RBI (46, 3rd) and runs scored (39, 4th).
Rumfield was acquired by Colorado from the New York Yankees on Jan. 28, 2026, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Angel Chivilli. After winning the Abby Greer Award as the Rockies’ Spring Training Most Valuable Player, Rumfield had his contract selected on March 25 and made his first career Opening Day roster. In May, he became the ninth Rockies player to receive the Rookie of the Month Award joining Nolan Jones (September/October 2023), Antonio Senzatela (April 2017), Trevor Story (April 2016), Ian Stewart (July 2008), Troy Tulowitzki (August 2007), Garrett Atkins (June 2005), Clint Barmes (April 2005) and Jason Jennings (August 2002).
