Colorado Rockies recall infielder Garrett Hampson from Triple-A Albuquerque

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled infielder Garrett Hampson from Triple-A Albuquerque, and have optioned right-handed pitcher Jesus Tinoco to Triple-A.

Hampson, 24, will be making his second stint on the Major League roster this season … made his first career Opening Day roster and has batted .194 (18-for-93) with 10 runs scored, two doubles, one triple, one home run, six RBI, four walks, 26 strikeouts and one stolen base across 31 games in his first stint with the Rockies this season prior to being optioned on May 12 … has appeared in 13 games for Albuquerque this season, batting .327 (18-for-55) with nine runs, six doubles, one triple, one home run, five RBI, two walks, 10 strikeouts and four stolen bases … originally selected in the third round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Reno, Nev., native made his Major League debut in 2018 and has batted .218 (29-for-133) with 13 runs, five doubles, two triples, one home run, 10 RBI, 11 walks and 38 strikeouts across 55 career games with the Rockies.

Tinoco, 24, was recalled to the Major League roster for the first time in his career on May 31 and made his Major League debut that night against Toronto, pitching a scoreless inning of relief while allowing one hit with two strikeouts … in 19 relief appearances for Albuquerque this season, has gone 3-1 with a 5.04 ERA (25.0 IP, 14 ER), 11 walks and 19 strikeouts … the native of San Antonio de Maturin, Venezuela, was acquired by the Rockies from Toronto along with right-handers Miguel Castro and Jeff Hoffman as well as infielder Jose Reyes in exchange for right-hander LaTroy Hawkins and infielder Troy Tulowitzki on July 28, 2015.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
