Colorado Rockies recall infielder Garrett Hampson from Triple-A Albuquerque

LOS ANGELES – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled infielder Garrett Hampson from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned right-handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman to Triple-A.

  • Hampson, 24, will be on the active roster for the third time this season after making his first career Opening Day roster … has batted .186 (18-for-97) with 11 runs scored, two doubles, one triple, one home run, six RBI, six walks, 27 strikeouts and one stolen base across 33 games this season … has appeared in 26 games for Albuquerque this season, batting .266 (29-for-109) with 15 runs, nine doubles, one triple, two home runs, nine RBI, five walks, 25 strikeouts and seven stolen bases … originally selected in the third round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Reno, Nev., native made his Major League debut in 2018 and has batted .212 (29-for-137) with 14 runs, five doubles, two triples, one home run, 10 RBI, 13 walks and 39 strikeouts across 57 career games with the Rockies.
  • Hoffman, 26, has gone 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA (33.1 IP, 25 ER) in seven starts for the Rockies this season … is 3-3 with a 7.57 ERA (35.2 IP, 30 ER) 17 walks and 44 strikeouts in seven appearances, six starts, with Albuquerque … since making his Major League debut in 2016, has gone 7-12 with a 6.05 ERA (172.2 IP, 116 ER), 77 walks and 145 strikeouts across 44 career appearances, 30 starts … originally selected in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft by Toronto, he was acquired by the Rockies July 27, 2015 along with RHP Miguel Castro, INF Jose Reyes and RHP Jesus Tinoco in exchange for RHP LaTroy Hawkins and SS Troy Tulowitzki.

The Rockies currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
