Rockies recall right-hander Yency Almonte from Triple-A Albuquerque

Left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson placed on the 10-day injured list with left knee inflammation

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Yency Almonte from Triple-A Albuquerque and have placed left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson on the 10-day injured list with left knee inflammation.

Almonte, 24, has made one appearance for Albuquerque this season, pitching one inning and striking out the side in order to earn the save on April 5 vs. Salt Lake … made his Major League debut for the Rockies on June 21 of last season vs. New York-NL, and posted no record with a 1.84 ERA (14.2 IP, 3 ER), four walks and 14 strikeouts over 14 relief appearances in his first Major League season … was originally drafted by the Angels in the 17th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, and was acquired by the Rockies from the White Sox via trade on Nov. 24, 2015, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle … in his Minor League career, the Miami, Fla., native is 38-35 with a 4.07 ERA (563.2 IP, 255 ER), 196 walks and 468 strikeouts across parts of eight seasons in the Los Angeles-AL (2012-14), Chicago-AL (2015) and Colorado (2016-19) organizations.

Anderson, 29, has made two starts for the Rockies this season and is 0-2 with a 11.00 ERA (9.0 IP, 11 ER), three walks and five strikeouts … since his Major League debut with the Rockies on June 12, 2016 vs. San Diego, the Rockies’ 2008 first-round pick has gone 18-23 with a 4.46 ERA (385.1 IP, 191 ER) with 116 walks and 349 strikeouts … is on the injured list for the fifth time in his career, the third time with left knee inflammation.

The Rockies currently have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
