Hemond to be honored at "In the Spirit of the Game" fundraiser

Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) Special Assistant to the President & CEO Roland Hemond will be honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award in Baseball at the 13th annual Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation's "In the Spirit of the Game" Fundraiser this Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

PHOENIX - Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) Special Assistant to the President & CEO Roland Hemond will be honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award in Baseball at the 13th annual Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation's "In the Spirit of the Game" Fundraiser this Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
Hemond, who is entering his 65th year in professional baseball, was selected as the second recipient of the Buck O'Neil Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum for his extraordinary efforts to enhance the game's positive impact on society. He served as a general manager for 23 seasons with the Chicago White Sox (1971-85) and Baltimore Orioles (1988-95) among his many roles in the sport.
Joe Mason, a D-backs amateur scout, will be one of eight recipients of the Legends in Scouting Award. Mason is entering his seventh season with the team and 38th in professional baseball, and his notable signees include Jonathan Paplebon and current D-backs hitting coach Dave Magadan.
Tony La Russa, the D-backs Chief Baseball Officer, will also present the Legends in Scouting Awards to Mason and seven other Major League Baseball scouts.
The evening will be hosted by MLB Network's Matt Vasgersian, Eric Byrnes and Sam Ryan.
