His 47 home runs during the 2003 season led the National League and helped him to a fourth-place finish in MVP voting. The left-handed slugger reached several career milestones while playing for the Phillies, most notably hitting his 400th career home run on June 14, 2004 at Citizens Bank Park. In 2012, Thome became the fourth player in MLB history to hit 100 home runs with three different teams, and also set an MLB record by hitting his 13th career walk-off home run.
Thome, who was selected to the Wall of Fame through fan voting on Phillies.com, played 22 major league seasons with the Phillies, Cleveland Indians (1991-2002, 2011), Chicago White Sox (2006-09), Los Angeles Dodgers (2009), Minnesota Twins (2010-11) and Baltimore Orioles (2012).
