The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Adalberto Mejía on the 10-day disabled list with a left wrist strain that he suffered during his start on Tuesday in Cleveland. Mejía went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (13.0 IP), four walks and nine strikeouts in his last three games (2 starts).
To replace Mejía on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Tyler Duffey. Duffey, who appeared in seven games earlier this season for the Twins, recently appeared in 17 games for the Red Wings, going 1-3 with a 3.72 ERA (29.0 IP, 12 ER), 13 walks and 30 strikeouts.
Additionally, to take the vacated roster spot of right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodney, who was traded to Oakland last night, the Twins have recalled first baseman/outfielder Tyler Austin from Rochester. Austin was acquired via trade with the Yankees in exchange for Lance Lynn at the trade deadline.
