Twins place Rosario on injured list

Adrianza activated, Littell optioned to Triple-A Rochester and Thorpe recalled

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Eddie Rosario on the 10-day Injured List with a left ankle sprain (retro to June 27). Rosario is hitting .282 (87-for-308) with 14 doubles, 20 home runs, 60 RBI, 51 runs scored and an .841 OPS in 75 games.

To replace Rosario on the 25-man roster, the Twins have activated infielder Ehire Adrianza from the 10-day Injured List. Adrianza, who missed the last 10 games with abdominal issues, is hitting .271 (29-for-107) with two doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI and a .772 OPS in 43 games this season.

Additionally, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Zack Littell to Triple-A Rochester. Littell recently appeared in three games for the Twins, pitching 4.0 scoreless innings with two walks and two strikeouts. 

To replace Littell on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled left-handed pitcher Lewis Thorpe from Triple-A Rochester. Thorpe, 23, started 14 games for the Red Wings this season, going 3-4 with a 5.71 ERA (69.1 IP, 44 ER), 21 walks and 88 strikeouts. The Melbourne, Australia native was signed by the Twins in July of 2012 and is looking to make his major league debut.
