Washington Nationals Announce 2022 Schedule

August 4th, 2021

The Washington Nationals – in conjunction with Major League Baseball – announced their 2022 schedule on Wednesday. The 18th season of Nationals baseball will commence with an Opening Day matchup against the New York Mets at Citi Field on March 31st. Opening Day 2022 will mark the sixth time the Nationals (2005-pres.) have faced the Mets on Opening Day. Washington’s initial road trip will feature three games against the Mets before the home opener at Nationals Park against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 4th.

Washington’s first homestand will include a two-game series against the Phillies from April 4th-6th and a four-game series against the New York Mets, April 7th-10th. Washington will host 12 homestands – with two of least 10 games – and 13 weekend series during the 2022 season.

While the Nationals play at New York (NL) on Memorial Day (May 30th), the weekend will feature a visit from the Colorado Rockies, May 26th-29th. The Nationals will host the Miami Marlins for a four-game weekend series, July 1st-4th that will feature the annual Fourth of July game at Nationals Park.

Interleague play will match the Nationals up with the American League West. The Nationals will welcome the Houston Astros (May 13th-15th), Seattle Mariners (July. 12th-13th), and Oakland Athletics (Aug. 30th-Sept. 1st) to Nationals Park. The visit from the Athletics will mark their first visit to Nationals Park since the stadium opened in 2008. With their visit, each of the 29 other clubs will have played against the Nationals at Nationals Park. Washington and Oakland last faced off in Washington, D.C. June 7th-9th, 2005 at RFK Stadium.

Interleague road trips will include series against the Los Angeles Angels (May 6th-8th), Texas Rangers (June 24th-26th) and Seattle Mariners (Aug., 23rd-24th). Washington’s visit to Texas will be its first since June 17th-19th, 2005.

The annual Beltway Series with the Baltimore Orioles will renew on June 21st-22nd at Camden Yards and Washington will host Baltimore at Nationals Park, Sept. 13th-14th.

The Nationals will make three visits to the West Coast, including three separate trips to the state of California. Following the All-Star break (July 18th-21st in Los Angeles, CA), Washington will open play at the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 22nd-24th before traveling to Dodger Stadium to face Los Angeles, July 25th-27th.

In the month of September/October, the Nationals will face National League East division foes 21 times in 27 games, including the final 15 games of the season against the Miami Marlins (6 games), Atlanta Braves (6 games) and Philadelphia Phillies (3 games).
