The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a six-year, $25-million contract with shortstop Tim Anderson, which includes club options for 2023 and 2024.

Under terms of the contract, the 23-year-old Anderson will receive $850,000 in 2017, $1 million in 2018, $1.4 million in 2019, $4 million in 2020, $7.25 million in 2021 and $9.5 million in 2022. The White Sox hold club options for 2023 at $12.5 million and 2024 at $14 million. If either option is declined, Anderson will receive a $1 million buyout.

Anderson finished seventh in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2016 after batting .283 (116-410) with 22 doubles, six triples, nine home runs, 30 RBI, 57 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 99 games. His six triples tied for fifth in the AL, and his 33 multihit games tied Jose Abreu (2014) for the seventh-highest total by a Sox player over his first 99 career games.

Anderson ranked among the AL rookie leaders last season in triples (T1st), runs scored (2nd), doubles (T2nd), stolen bases (T2nd), hits (3rd), total bases (3rd, 177) and extra-base hits (T3rd, 37).

Anderson, who was selected by the White Sox in the first round (17th overall) of the 2013 draft, would have been eligible for free agency after the 2022 season.
