Prior to tonight's game vs. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:   •   Placed outfielder Leury García on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring; •   Optioned right-handed pitcher Tyler Danish to Class AAA Charlotte; •   Purchased the contract of right-hander Michael Kopech

Prior to tonight's game vs. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:
 
•   Placed outfielder Leury García on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring;
•   Optioned right-handed pitcher Tyler Danish to Class AAA Charlotte;
•   Purchased the contract of right-hander Michael Kopech from Charlotte;
•   Recalled outfielder Ryan LaMarre from Charlotte.
 
Kopech, 22, is 7-7 with a 3.70 ERA (52 ER/126.1 IP), .219 opponents average (101-461), 170 strikeouts (12.11 per 9.0 IP) and nine home runs allowed over 24 starts with Charlotte this season. He leads all minor-league pitchers in strikeouts and leads the International League in strikeouts per 9.0 IP. The Longview, Texas native is 4-0 with a 1.84 ERA (9 ER/44.0 IP), 59 strikeouts and four walks over his last seven starts, and has not issued a walk in his last 24.0 IP dating to July 31.
 
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Kopech is currently ranked by MLB.com and Baseball America as the No. 13 prospect in baseball, and No. 2 in the White Sox organization. He recorded 172 strikeouts last season, tied for the fifth-most in the minor leagues. He has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 34.
 
Kopech is 24-22 with a 3.05 ERA (134 ER/395.2 IP), 514 strikeouts (11.7 per 9.0 IP), a 1.21 WHIP and just 18 home runs allowed in 85 career appearances (84 starts) over five minor-league seasons in the Boston (2014-16) and Chicago (2017-18) organizations. He was acquired by the White Sox with infielder Yoán Moncada, outfielder Luis Alexander Basabe and right-hander Víctor Díaz from the Red Sox in exchange for LHP Chris Sale on December 6, 2016. Kopech originally was selected by Boston in the first round (33rd overall) of the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Mount Pleasant (Texas) High School.
 
LaMarre, 29, is batting .273 (6-22) with one double, one home run and two RBI in nine games over two stints with the White Sox after being claimed off waivers from Minnesota on July 9. He connected on his first major-league home run on August 14 at Detroit.
 
García, 27, is batting .280 (68-243) with seven doubles, four triples, four home runs and 31 RBI in 77 games with Chicago this season.
 
Danish, 24, has appeared in seven games with the White Sox since his contract was purchased from Charlotte on July 27, going 1-0 with a 7.11 ERA (5 ER/6.1 IP) and five strikeouts. He is 1-3 with a 3.06 ERA (22 ER/64.2 IP), 46 strikeouts and a .230 (55-230) opponents average over 29 games (two starts) with the Knights in 2018.
 
The White Sox 40-man roster increases to 39.
