Theme Nights and Promotions
The White Sox celebrate Halfway to Mardi Gras on Tuesday, August 8. This second annual theme night at Guaranteed Rate Field features photo opportunities near Section 159 as well as a juggling jester, a stilt walker and a face painter on the concourse. Fans can pick up various items - including Mardi Gras beads, feather masks and other party wear - in the Mardi Gras Party Shop in Section 159. Special food and drink items will be available for fans, including a Cajun Chicken Sandwich in the Beggars Pizza Pub and a Halfway to Mardi Gras specialty cocktails in the XFINITY Zone.
Fans are invited to enjoy the baseball tradition of having a hot dog while cheering on the White Sox during $1 Hot Dog Wednesday on August 9. The popular large and juicy Vienna Beef premium hot dogs will be available for $1 at Guaranteed Rate Field's concession stands on the 100 and 500-level concourses and in-seat vending as well as club level concessions. There will be a limit of four per person per concession visit, while supplies last. The $1 Hot Dog Wednesdays promotion excludes Comiskey Dogs, a specialty Chicago-style hot dog.
The White Sox will honor Chicago's bravest and finest with Police and Fire Night, presented by UL, on Thursday, August 10. Members of both the Chicago Police and Fire Departments will be honored in the pregame ceremony. Specially priced tickets for police officers, firefighters, their families and friends are available at whitesox.com/PDFD.
The White Sox will celebrate Rock 'N' Roll Night and Fireworks, presented by Guaranteed Rate, on Friday, August 11. Entertainment will include pregame performances by Off the Record and Rocks Off as well as live, in-game performances by Hairbangers Ball. Fans are invited to enjoy special food and drink deals as well as live entertainment from local band South of 80 at the Rocking GRate Tailgate from 5-7 p.m. at ChiSox Bar & Grill. The evening will conclude with postgame fireworks set to a rock 'n' roll soundtrack.
Family Sunday, presented by Coca-Cola, will take place on Sunday, August 13. The game will include kid-friendly activities such as children's running the bases postgame (weather permitting), face painters, balloon artists and a caricature artist. Tickets are available for as low as $5 in the Upper Level and $15 in the Lower Level with $10 parking. Kids ages 10 and under eat free off the kid's menu at ChiSox Bar & Grill on Family Sundays. A Children's Autograph Session will take place on Sunday, August 13, inviting kids to receive autographs from current White Sox players. The first 100 kids (ages 13 and under) to enter the ballpark through the Chicago Sports Depot entrance (located near parking Lot B and Gate 5) at 11:15 a.m. will be given a wristband and be directed to a special area for the autograph session. Giveaways
The first 10,000 fans to enter the ballpark on Thursday, August 10, will receive a Chicago-themed White Sox T-shirt. This giveaway is presented by UL as part of the Free T-Shirt Thursdays. Tickets and information on upcoming T-shirt designs is available at whitesox.com/Thursdays.
All fans to enter the ballpark on Friday, August 11, will receive a pack of Baseball Cards, presented by Topps.
The first 15,000 fans to enter the ballpark on Saturday, August 12, will receive a White Sox cap
Special Guests
The Bud Billiken Parade Royal Court will kick off the game on Tuesday, August 8, by announcing "Play ball!"
The 2017 Clark Cup Champion Chicago Steel hockey team will be honored in a pregame ceremony on Wednesday, August 9. The Steel are members of the United States Hockey League (USHL), the only Tier 1 junior league in the country. After setting team records in wins and points during the regular season, the Steel won the Eastern Conference Championship to advance to their first Clark Cup Final, which was won in overtime of the deciding game five. Chicago Steel captain Marc Johnstone will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
Eighteen-year-old singer/songwriter Ally Ahern will perform the National Anthem on Friday, August 11. Ahern is multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from Chicago. Her self-titled EP is available in stores now.
NBC's "The Voice" top 20 contestant Riley Elmore will perform the National Anthem. The teenager is a West Dundee native who was known on the show as a young artist with an old soul and passion for Frank Sinatra's music.
