White Sox recall Reynaldo Lopez from Class AAA Charlotte

López, 23, went 6-7 with a 3.79 ERA (51 ER/121.0 IP), 131 strikeouts and a .220 (101-460) opponents average over 22 starts with Charlotte this season, his first in the White Sox organization.

Prior to tonight's game vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Reynaldo López from Class AAA Charlotte and outrighted left-hander David Holmberg to Charlotte.
López, 23, went 6-7 with a 3.79 ERA (51 ER/121.0 IP), 131 strikeouts and a .220 (101-460) opponents average over 22 starts with Charlotte this season, his first in the White Sox organization. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound López ranks among the International League leaders in strikeouts per 9.0 IP (3rd, 9.7), opponents average (3rd), strikeouts (T3rd), starts (T4th) and IP (7th). He struck out 10-plus batters on four occasions.
López, who is ranked by MLB.com as the No. 59 prospect in baseball and No. 6 in the Sox organization, was named the White Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July after recording a 2.10 ERA (7 ER/30.0 IP) with 38 strikeouts and a .183 (20-109) opponents average over five starts.
He was acquired by the White Sox from Washington on December 7, 2016 with right-handed pitchers Lucas Giolito and Dane Dunning in exchange for outfielder Adam Eaton. López went 5-3 with a 4.91 ERA (24 ER/44.0 IP) and 42 strikeouts in 11 appearances (six starts) with the Nationals in 2016, his first major-league season.
López has gone 25-26 with a 3.34 ERA (159 ER/428.2 IP) and 434 strikeouts in 83 games (78 starts) over six minor-league seasons. He originally was signed by Washington as a non-drafted free agent on June 21, 2012 out of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.
López will wear uniform No. 40.
Holmberg, 26, is 2-3 with a 3.55 ERA (20 ER/50.2 IP) and 28 strikeouts in 33 games (six starts) with the White Sox this season after his contract was purchased from Charlotte on May 4.
The White Sox 40-man roster is at 36.
