YANKEES RE-SIGN INF/OF AMED ROSARIO
The New York Yankees today announced that they have re-signed infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario to a one-year Major League contract for the 2026 season.
Rosario, 30, combined to hit .276/.309/.436 (50-for-181) with 20R, 11 doubles, 6HR, 23RBI, 7BB, 2HP, 1SF and 1SB in 63 games with the Washington Nationals and Yankees in 2025. Against left-handed pitching, he hit .302/.328/.491 (35-for-116) with 10 doubles, 4HR and 5BB. He appeared defensively at third base (33G/26GS), second base (17G/14GS), right field (6G/1GS) and shortstop (1G).
He was acquired by the Yankees from the Washington Nationals in exchange for RHP Clayton Beeter and OF Browm Martínez on July 26, 2025. In 16 games with the Yankees, he hit .303/.303/.485 (10-for-33) with 1R, 3 doubles, 1HR and 5RBI. Rosario appeared in four postseason games for the Yankees, batting .300 (3-for-10) with 2R, 1 double and 1RBI.
Over parts of nine Major League seasons with the New York Mets (2017-20), Cleveland Guardians (2021-23), Los Angeles Dodgers (2023-24), Tampa Bay Rays (2024), Cincinnati Reds (2024), Washington Nationals (2025) and Yankees (2025), the right-handed batter has hit .273/.308/.400 (1,008-for-3,688) with 469R, 168 doubles, 46 triples, 69HR, 389RBI, 168BB and 110SB in 1,005 career games. In his career vs. left-handed pitchers, he has hit .298/.336/.464 (335-for-1,124) with 78 doubles, 12 triples, 28HR and 62BB.
His 42 triples since 2018 are the third-most in the Majors in that span. Since 2021, he has hit .299/.336/.417 (165-for-552) with 31 doubles, 5 triples, 8HR, 192RBI, 32BB, 5HP and 13SF with runners in scoring position.
Rosario has appeared defensively in his career at shortstop (767G/735GS), second base (80G/53GS), third base (48G/36GS), right field (32G/23GS), centerfield (18G/14GS) and left field (7G/6GS).
The Santo Domingo, D.R., native was originally signed by the New York Mets as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2012. He was acquired by Cleveland along with INF Andrés Giménez, OF Isaiah Greene and RHP Josh Wolf in exchange for INF Francisco Lindor and RHP Carlos Carrasco on January 7, 2021. On July 26, 2023, he was acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for RHP Noah Syndergaard and cash considerations. He then signed with the Tampa Bay Rays as a free agent on February 20, 2024. Rosario was acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for RHP Michael Flynn on July 29, 2024. He was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on August 1, 2024, and claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds on August 18, 2024. He then signed with the Washington Nationals as a free agent on January 8, 2025.
