June 26th, 2021

MINNEAPOLIS – ’ first start in his hometown will have to wait another 24 hours.

The Indians-Twins game on Saturday was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Sept. 14 with the first game beginning at 2:10 p.m. ET and the nightcap starting at 7:40 p.m. ET.

Hentges, who was slated to make the start on Saturday, will now pitch on Sunday. Before the rainout was announced, the Indians were originally planning to recall Logan Allen to pitch in the series finale, but now the team will not need to.

That gives Cleveland an extra day to breathe before trying to piece together the rest of the rotation. Allen had only gotten two starts in Triple-A since returning from some elbow trouble and owned a 6.00 ERA in that span. The rest of the rotation will stay in order with Eli Morgan starting on Monday, J.C. Mejía on Tuesday and Cal Quantrill on Wednesday. Allen could still be an option for the club on Thursday, assuming the Indians would be OK with him having that much down time in between starts.

Allen was supposed to start on Thursday for Triple-A Columbus but was scratched so he could be an option for the Indians on Sunday if he was needed.
