DENVER -- The Marlins reinstated Liam Hicks from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Rockies at Coors Field.
Miami optioned infielder Graham Pauley to Triple-A Jacksonville as the corresponding roster move.
Hicks, who leads the club with 13 homers and 53 RBIs, was scratched from the club’s June 20 game with a lower back strain. After undergoing imaging, Hicks was placed on the injured list the following day. Tuesday was his first day eligible to come off the IL.
Prior to the injury, Hicks was batting .357/.426/.524 with two doubles, one triple, one homer and six RBIs while riding a 10-game hitting streak. He was serving as rookie Joe Mack’s backup at catcher and sticking in the lineup as the club’s primary designated hitter with Kyle Stowers handling the majority of first-base reps.
