Citi Field homer caught by cameraman's son

July 2nd, 2022

As Nathaniel Lowe’s 435-foot home run descended into the second deck at Citi Field on Friday, TV cameras captured a young fan making a fantastic snag of the ball on the fly.

For one of those people behind the camera, the catch contained incredible serendipity.

That’s because the ball was caught by the son of a cameraman working the game for Apple TV+.

The happy father soon found himself on the other end of the lens as the broadcast caught wind of the amazing coincidence, and he was shown applauding and blowing a long-distance kiss to his son.

Of course, maybe this was all part of a plan, as color analyst Hannah Keyser jokingly surmised: “That’s what you’ve got to do if you’re an adult; you’ve got to have your son catch the ball so he can share it with you later.”

Color analyst Chris Young also noticed just how easily the boy caught the ball, which came off the bat at 111.1 mph.

“He seemed like he’s made plenty of catches like that," Young said. "He was chilling up there like, ‘I got it.’”

Yeah, he did. And we will forever have the video to prove it, thanks to some extra-special camera work.
