Mets sign RHP Anthony Swarzak

The New York Mets today announced that the club signed RHP Anthony Swarzak to a two-year contract.

FLUSHING, N.Y., December 15, 2017 - The New York Mets today announced that the club signed RHP Anthony Swarzak to a two-year contract.
Swarzak, 32, posted a 2.33 ERA (20 earned runs/77.1 innings) and averaged a career-high 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings last year combined with the White Sox and Brewers (91 total strikeouts). He had a 1.03 WHIP while going 6-4 with two saves in 70 contests in 2017. He was acquired by Milwaukee on July 26 in exchange for minor league outfielder Ryan Cordell.
The 6-4, 215-pounder held lefthanded batters to a .198 (19-96) batting average and allowed just one home run to lefties in 2017.
Swarzak appeared in 10 games for Cleveland in 2015 where current Mets Manager Mickey Callaway was his pitching coach. He also pitched in 26 games for the Yankees in 2016. Swarzak was drafted in the second round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft by the Twins out of Nova High School (FL).
He is 23-30 with a 4.22 ERA (263 earned runs/561.1 innings) in 287 games, 32 starts over eight major league seasons with the Twins, Indians, Yankees, White Sox and Brewers.
