Del Castillo makes most of second chance with 2-run 1B after successful challenge

NEW YORK -- The Mets had gotten themselves out of a big jam when home-plate umpire Brian O'Nora rang up with two outs and two on in the fifth inning.

But before reliever Huascar Brazobán could walk off the field, Del Castillo tapped his helmet to signal he was challenging the call, and as the graphic on the scoreboard showed, the pitch missed ever so slightly off the inside corner of the plate.

So instead of the inning being over, with the Mets maintaining a 2-0 lead, Brazobán was forced to throw another pitch, and Del Castillo ripped this one into right field for a two-run single to tie the score at 2.

But the Diamondbacks weren't done, as Nolan Arenado then blooped a double to center to score Gabriel Moreno and give the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead. The Mets would tie the score in the bottom of eighth before walking off for a 4-3 win in the 10th.
