Beat the Streak is back for the 2022 season -- and the $5.6 million prize is still up for grabs.
The idea is simple -- pick one player (or two) every day who you think will get a hit. The objective -- surpass Joe DiMaggio's record-long 56-game hitting streak -- is a bit more challenging.
But we are here to help with that. We'll provide BTS leaderboard updates and daily insights on favorable matchups in this space, as well as every weekday on the new “Beat the Streak Daily: Inside the Hits” podcast.
Let's take a closer look at the action from yesterday and today:

HITTERS TO TARGET TODAY
Francisco Lindor, Mets (vs. Yankees)
Lindor comes into the Subway Series riding a seven-game hitting streak -- and he's notched at least one hit in 35 of his past 40 games. As for his matchup in this one, Yankees starter Domingo Germán is still looking to hit his stride in what will be just his seventh start of the season after debuting on July 21. Germán has allowed more than a hit per inning -- 31 hits in 28 1/3 frames -- with opponents posting a .274 average against him.
Joey Wendle, Marlins (vs. A's)
Wendle, who was hitting .300 through July 26, has cooled off a bit over the past month, posting a sub-.200 average since that day. Still, this one is more about the matchup than anything else with the A's turning to rookie right-hander Adam Oller, who has allowed a .927 OPS through 15 big league outings -- including a .951 OPS to lefties. This is a perfect spot for Wendle, who is a career .281 hitter with a .748 OPS vs. righties (compared to a .232 hitter with a .629 OPS against southpaws).
OFFENSE(S) TO AVOID
Yankees (vs. Mets -- Max Scherzer)
It would have been hard to picture listing the Yankees' potent offense in this section for any reason a month ago, but here we are. Not only are the Yanks mired in one of the worst offensive stretches in franchise history, but now they get to face Scherzer, who enters with a 2.15 ERA and .206 opponents' batting average.
