Pipeline Preview: Bichette on a roll for Dunedin

August 26th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Bo Bichette (Blue Jays' No. 2), Dunedin vs. Tampa (6:30 p.m. ET)
Bichette, the No. 30 overall prospect, extended his hitting streak to nine games with his 13th homer of the season in a 1-for-3 performance with Dunedin on Friday. Bichette, hitting .341 through 33 games with Dunedin, has produced all season. Prior to his promotion to Dunedin, the 19-year-old began the season with Class A Lansing, where he batted .384 in 70 games.

Pitcher to watch: (White Sox No. 3), Charlotte vs. Gwinnett (6:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Kopech, the No. 12 overall prospect, will be making his second start at the Triple-A level after putting up a strong performance during his debut on Monday. In his first start with the Knights, Kopech threw 58 of his 92 pitches for strikes and gave up two runs in five innings. Prior to his promotion, Kopech posted a 2.87 ERA and notched 155 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings with Double-A Birmingham.

Duel of the Day: John Means (Orioles' No. 30) vs. Brandon Waddell (Pirates No. 24), Bowie vs. Altoona (6 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
After posting a 2.39 ERA in six games during July, Means has struggled a bit in August, giving up four earned runs in two of his past three outings. However, Means has won seven of his past eight decisions and is 9-8 with a 4.24 ERA through 24 games (22 starts) this season.
While Means is looking to get back on track, Waddell has thrown the ball well for the past two months. Including his last start, during which he spun six scoreless frames, Waddell has allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his past eight starts.
