He and his wife, Leah, have one daughter...Graduated from Mundelein (Ill.) High School where he played both baseball and basketball...Actually found out he would need Tommy John surgery prior to graduating high school after throwing a curveball in the fifth inning of a game which he ended up finishing a seven-inning no-hitter. He decided to push the surgery back so he could play first base for his team as they pursued a state championship...Was committed to attending the University of Iowa prior to signing with the Blue Jays after being drafted...Grew up a fan of the Chicago White Sox with his favorite player being Mark Buehrle. He wore No. 56 for his first five years with the Blue Jays in honor of Buehrle. Also enjoyed watching Scott Podsednik and tried to emulate his stance as a lefty batter growing up as a kid...Is also an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoys playing fantasy football...Ryan’s father, Raymond, was an infielder (third base, second base and shortstop) in the Phillies minor league system from 1979-1982, reaching as high as Triple-A. He played at Double-A Birmingham in 1983.

2025

Ryan split the 2022 season between the Blue Jays and Mariners, appearing in 32 games with a 2-0 record and a 5.68 ERA (16 ER/25.1 IP)...Had three stints on the injured list: April 4-17 (right hamstring strain), April 27-May 7 (blister) and Aug. 9 through the season's end (left forearm strain)...Was acquired by Seattle June 4 for Minor League infielder Tyler Keenan... Pitched to a 1.93 ERA (3 ER/14.0 IP) with two wins and four holds in his first 15 outings with the Mariners from June 6-July 26...opponents hit .220 in that stretch.

2021

Made a career-high 24 appearances...Earned the win April 4 at NYY as he retired both batters faced and stranded a runner on second...Was his first victory since July 27, 2020, at WAS...Placed on the injured list with a left forearm flexor strain from May 11-July 15...Pitched a scoreless 8th inning in his return from IL on July 16 vs. TEX (1H, 2K)...Optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Aug. 7 before being recalled Sept. 13...Held a 2.89 ERA (3 ER/9.1 IP) and a 1.39 WHIP in nine games for the Bisons (8BB, 12K).

2020

After seven starts with the Fisher Cats (2-3, 1.94 ERA) was promoted to Triple-A Buffalo on Aug. 29 ... 2016

Assigned to the Advanced-A Dunedin Blue Jays to open the 2016 minor league season...Struggled with Dunedin, posting a 14.40 ERA through six starts before being assigned to the Class A Lansing Lugnuts...With the Lugnuts made 20 starts and posted a 10-4 record, 2.41 ERA, and 107 strikeouts..Was added to Toronto's 40-man roster after the season to protect him from the Rule 5 draft...Held RH hitters to a .158 average at New Hampshire and Buffalo combined...LH hitters batted .310.
