ARLINGTON -- Rangers right fielder Brandon Nimmo exited Tuesday night’s game against the Diamondbacks with an apparent left ankle injury after an infield single in the sixth inning.
Nimmo connected with a slow roller up the right side of the infield and sprinted down the line to try to beat out the play at first base. He did so, but not before stepping on Ildemaro Vargas’ foot and landing awkwardly.
He limped heavily back to the bag and initially stayed in the game for one more batter. Sam Haggerty pinch-ran for him shortly afterward.
Nimmo was 3-for-4 with a triple and a pair of singles when he exited the game.
