Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh and Nationals outfielder Daylen Lile each tallied the best stretches of their respective seasons last week. Now, they have the recognition to show for it, receiving Player of the Week honors in the American League and National League on Monday.
Raleigh showcased the sort of prodigious power that he routinely displayed last season, en route to a 60-homer season and a No. 2 finish in AL Most Valuable Player voting. The Big Dumper launched five home runs in six games last week, including a memorable three-homer game against the Phillies on Monday.
It was Raleigh’s first career three-homer performance, and the first three-homer game by a Mariners player at T-Mobile Park, which opened in July 1999. He joined his current manager, Dan Wilson, as the only catchers in Mariners history to hit three home runs in one game.
Raleigh won the Player of the Week Award twice in 2025, but he had yet to do so this season. He’s the second Mariners player to win the award this season, joining Logan Gilbert, who won on June 20.
Meanwhile, Lile was an on-base machine this past week, hitting .458 with 11 base knocks, three homers, 10 RBIs and five walks. He reached base 16 times, steering the Nationals to a 4-3 record.
Lile -- who won NL Player of the Month honors last September -- is the fourth Nationals player to win a Player of the Week Award this season, joining CJ Abrams, James Wood and current Yankee Luis García Jr.
Angels outfielder Wade Meckler snagged Play of the Week recognition with a stunning catch to take away a potential go-ahead home run from the Phillies’ Bryson Stott on Friday night.
There’s just something about that right-field corner at Angel Stadium, right? Channeling his inner Jo Adell, Meckler jumped into the stands to temporarily preserve a two-run ninth-inning lead, putting his body on the line and somehow holding onto the ball in the process.
