Dodgers ownership pledges $50 million donation to Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation

May 3rd, 2024

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers Ownership Group has pledged a donation of $50 million to the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, the charitable partner of the organization. In addition, Dodger ownership will donate another $50 million if the Dodgers reach the World Series in 2024. The announcement was made at the annual LADF Blue Diamond Gala at Dodger Stadium tonight by Mark Walter, Owner and Chairman, Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) is tackling the most pressing problems facing Los Angeles with a mission to improve education, health care, homelessness and social justice for all Angelenos. Bigger than baseball, LADF envisions a city where everyone regardless of ZIP code has the opportunity to thrive. LADF was reimagined in 2013 and has since raised over $95 million and is on track to raise $100 million in 2024. LADF has invested more than $60 million in its programs and grants to local organizations and impacted more than 10 million youth. LADF is the proud recipient of ESPN's Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year, Robert Wood Johnson Sports Award, Beyond Sport's Sport for Reduced Racial Inequalities Collective Impact Award, and the Aspen Institute Project Play Champion.

“Just as the Los Angeles Dodgers compete at the highest level on the field, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation is peerless in the breadth and depth of its service for the community off the field,” said Walter. “This donation underscores the importance of every goal the LADF pursues and achieves, and our hope is that together, our baseball team and the Foundation reach the greatest heights in 2024.”

The annual LADF Blue Diamond Gala returned for the eighth time at Dodger Stadium on Thursday with a private concert starring 4x Grammy award-winning global superstar Ed Sheeran. The gala, deemed the “Party For LA,” is presented by the Los Angeles Dodgers Ownership Group. The evening began with a star-studded blue carpet and pre-show dinner party followed by two hours of entertainment, including a DJ set and post-show party food trucks. In addition to the live performances, special guests included the 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers, alumni, coaches, and other celebrities.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit LADF as it tackles the most pressing problems facing Los Angeles with a mission to improve education, health care, homelessness and social justice for all Angelenos. In the last ten years, LADF fostered a community ecosystem that grew to be bigger than baseball. Now, the organization enters its next phase of evolution and launches a new Strategic Plan: Lasting Impact for Los Angeles, which builds upon its successes by amplifying best practices, scaling solutions to reach more Angelenos, growing its capacity, and refining its work to create a lasting impact for Los Angeles.
