BOSTON -- Following an outstanding diving catch in center field during the fourth inning on Friday night, Rangers outfielder Evan Carter was removed from the game an inning later with right oblique soreness.
With one out in the bottom of the fourth, Boston's Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a fly ball toward shallow center field that was quickly dying and looked as if it might find the turf before Carter came swooping in with a head-first dive to secure the out and keep Texas within a run for the time being.
After the offense went down 1-2-3 in the top of the fifth, the Rangers switched Wyatt Langford from left to center field, had Nicky Lopez move from second to left and Justin Foscue came into the game to play second base.
Prior to Friday’s game, Carter had hit safely in four straight games but was 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before leaving the game.
