History of qualifying-offer decisions

Who accepted, who rejected and what Draft picks teams received

March 20th, 2024

Since the qualifying offer was implemented in 2012, 131 players have received the one-year contract offer from their teams. But only 13 players have accepted the offer.

Including Shohei Ohtani, none of the seven players who received the qualifying offer this offseason accepted it.

Here is a year-by-year breakdown of all the players who received qualifying offers over the system's first 12 seasons, through 2023, and how they responded. Also included are the Draft picks teams received as compensation for losing free agents who rejected qualifying offers.
